Status Adjustments and Immigration Consequences of Convictions

Safe Passage Project Mentor Attorney Rex Chen introduced workshop participants to the rules and legal terms that surround adjusting individual’s legal status including immediate relative adjustment, section 245(i), the 3- and 10-year bars for unlawful presence, consular processing, parole-in-place, and the permanent bar. Workshop participants learned about the immigration consequences of convictions, especially as they pertain to children.
