Vicarious Trauma Training
December 2019
Working with immigrant youths and interpreting and translating difficult stories can be emotionally taxing on the individuals who work with them. In many cases, individuals may develop vicarious trauma when they hear or read about the violence and abuse that forces on many unaccompanied minors to flee their home countries and communities. This workshop addresses this reality for our
U-LAMPers, as well as introduces techniques that our U-LAMPers can use to de-stress after assisting immigrant youths and attorneys. Led by Safe Passage Project Supervising Social Worker Samantha Norris, as well as additional Safe Passage Project Social Work staff, this workshop provided essential training to our U-LAMPers who are working across three different sites with immigrant youths. |
